Course Detail

The “Stability and Ballast Control for Mobile Offshore Drilling Units” Course is being offered Gulf Coast Training Technologies as a prerequisite for a United States Coast Guard Offshore Installation Manager, Barge Supervisor, or Ballast Control Operator license for personnel working on Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODU) This course will teach stability principles of both Jack-up type Units and Semi-submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Units to personnel serving aboard these type vessels.

This course references two MODUS, the Deep Driller, which is a six column, column stabilized semi-submersible drilling unit and the Coastal Driller, which is a three legged self-elevating independent leg jack-up rig. These 2 MODUS are typical of many that are in existence today. The Deep Driller and Coastal Driller sections used in this course are specific to these 2 rigs. The intent of this material is to enable the student to learn how to properly use the Operation Manual for their specific rig.

About Stability Certificate: This course is hereby recognised as an approved U.S. Coast Training Course as outlined in Subpart D of part 10, Title 46, Code of Federal Regulations and under OIM Resolution 1079(28).

The entire course duration was well organised from day one to course completion. Every candidate got personalised attention w.r.t. course material availability, timely coffee and snack break. The staff and faculty is very helpful and willing to assist in their best capacity. If I ever need to up my skills with further advanced courses - this is first place to enquire. Vehicle parking is not available inside building premises - Out on road side it’s equally safe…!!!
