FPSO Familiarisation

Our FPSO Familiarisation Course has been designed to give candidates a clear understanding of how these complex units are built, operated, and maintained.

Course Detail

Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels play a vital role in the offshore oil and gas industry. Acting as floating platforms, they not only process hydrocarbons but also store and transfer them to shore installations, making them an essential solution for deepwater and remote field developments.

Our FPSO Familiarisation Course has been designed to provide candidates with a clear understanding of how these complex units are constructed, operated, and maintained. Through a combination of classroom learning and case studies, candidates will gain the knowledge needed to confidently engage with FPSO operations.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Understand the role and importance of FPSOs, along with their development and applications in the industry.
  • Learn the basics of FPSO design, from hull selection and mooring systems to safe accommodation and process layouts.
  • Explore the main FPSO systems, including storage tanks, fluid transfer, and offtake/export methods.
  • Get to know turret and mooring arrangements, swivel stacks, and integrity monitoring practices.
  • Gain insight into subsea tie-backs, covering reservoirs, subsea wells, risers, flowlines, and umbilicals.
  • Review the topsides processes, such as separation, compression, water treatment and injection, as well as supporting utilities.
  • Develop an understanding of marine systems, from cargo storage and ballast management to pump operations and inert gas systems.
  • Apply your learning through interactive workshops and case studies, focusing on risk assessment, process layouts, and design considerations.
